How to Measure Curtain Width

To achieve a well-fitted and full look for your curtains, follow these steps:

  1. Measure the Window Width:

    • Use a steel measuring tape for accuracy.

    • Measure from the outside edge of one window casing to the outside edge of the other.

  2. Determine the Curtain Width:

    • Multiply the window width by 1.5 to 3 times, depending on your desired fullness:

      • 1.5x for a sleek, modern look.

      • 2x to 3x for a more luxurious, pleated appearance.

  3. Account for the Curtain Rod:

    • Curtain rods typically extend 4 to 6 inches past the window on each side.

    • Ensure this additional width is included in your measurements for proper coverage and a balanced look.

Curtain Widths: Unlike lengths, there are no standard curtain widths.

20" - 36" - Narrow Windows

How to Measure Curtain Length With an Installed Rod


To ensure a polished and well-fitted look, measure from the curtain rod to your desired endpoint:

  • Slightly Below the Window Frame

    1. (Our standard 63" length works perfectly if you just want to cover the window only)


    • Best for smaller windows or a more casual aesthetic.

    • This length works well for kitchens, bathrooms, or spaces where floor-length curtains aren’t practical.

  • All the Way to the Floor:

    • Ideal for creating an elegant and cohesive look in living rooms, dining rooms, or bedrooms.

    • For a modern, streamlined appearance, let the curtains just graze the floor.

    • For a dramatic, formal effect, allow the curtains to "puddle" slightly on the floor.

Pro Tip:

Always measure from the rod's position, whether mounted above the window frame or closer to the ceiling, to determine the perfect length for your curtains.

 

How to Measure Curtain Length Without an Installed Rod

If the curtain rod is not yet installed, decide where you want it positioned before measuring:

  • Minimum Height Above the Window Frame:

    • Curtains should be placed at least 4 inches above the window frame for a clean, classic look.

  • For a Dramatic and Elegant Look:

    • Start measuring from the ceiling or just below it. This placement elongates the room and creates a sophisticated, upscale feel.

Once you’ve determined the starting point, measure down to your desired curtain endpoint:

  • Slightly below the window frame or,

  • All the way to the floor for a full-length with polished effect or

  • For Puddling look add few inches extra.

Our Maharani Jacquard Curtains are Easy to Maintain

They are Washable at Home!

Machine Washable: Cold separately, Gentle or Delicate Cycle.
Tumble Dry: Low, Medium Iron if needed.
Do Not Bleach.

They can be dry cleaned but not needed.

Also, first iron might be needed for smooth appearance when they are removed from the package.

Medium to High Heat is preferred.

We have a user-friendly 30 days return policy for all of our home décor products. You have 30 days to return any product if you find a malfunctioning or fault within the delivered product. In order to return, the item must be in the same condition you received it, Unused and with tags in the original packaging. You will need the buying slip or receipt for proof of purchase. To process the return, you can contact us at support@kapissh.com. If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, along with instructions on how and where to send your package. Any return query will be entertained at support@kapissh.com.

To Initiate a Refund or Exchange:

  2. We offer direct exchanges of items and you can certainly return an item for refund, please contact us and let us know what is your preference. We initiate a refund once the item has been received.

  4. If your  product arrives damaged or defective, kapissh will cover the cost of return shipping. (Images with damages are required).
